Since this firewall blocks incoming connections you may need open a port through it for certain games and applications. This process of opening a port is frequently called a port forward, since you are forwarding a port from the internet to your home network.

Step 1

It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Step 2

Now we are going to login to your AVM FRITZ_Box_Fon_WLAN_7570 router. Your router has a web interface, so you will login to it using your web browser.This can be either Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Edge. It usually does not matter which browser you choose to use.

Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:


In the picture above the address bar has 192.168.178.1 in it. Just replace all of that with the IP address of your AVM FRITZ_Box_Fon_WLAN_7570 router.Your router's IP address can also be refered to as your computer's default gateway.

By default the IP address is set to: 192.168.178.1

After entering the IP address of your router you can simply press enter. If all goes well you will see the following screen:

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password.

Enter your username and password, and then click the Login button to log in to your AVM FRITZ_Box_Fon_WLAN_7570 router.

Step 3

Now we need to find the port forwarding section in your router. Here's how you do it. Starting from the first page in your router:

Click the Settings button near the top of the page.

The menu on the left should change. In this new menu, click Advanced Settings.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Permit Access.

Click the New Port Forwarding button near the right of the page.

Select Other Applications from the Port Forwarding Enabled For drop down box.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

Put a checkmark in the Enable checkbox.

Put a name for this forward in the Name box so that you can remember why you set this forward up. The name does not matter so pick something that has meaning to you.

The protocol that you want to forward is selected from the Protocol box.

If you are just forwarding a single port number then you can simply enter that same number into both the From Port, To Port and the Through Port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, usually separated by a hyphen, then you need to enter the lowest number of that range into the From Port, To Port box and then enter highest number into the Through Port box.

The To Computer box contains a list of device names that are visible on your network. Choose a device from this box to forward ports to.

Click the Ok button when you are done.

Your ports should now be open. It is time to test them.
